Entangled By The Senses

As I was thinking back about the most intoxicating entanglement I fell into at the mega church.  What came to mind was the use of the senses to draw out feelings and emotions.  By using music, light shows, smoke screens, the act of literally nailing past mistakes to wooden crosses, writing feelings in the sand in front of the sanctuary, lighting candles etc.  It was all about sensory activities built to inspires emotional responses.

What an interesting church growth model.  It's all about the people being inspired, encouraged, feeling good about themselves and letting go of guilt, shame or any bad feelings that would lead one to true repentance.

What in the world is going on?  I believe it's okay to feel bad about sin.  A little conviction goes a long way.

The bible does state "there is therefore now no condemation to them which are in Christ Jesus", but there's more scriptures that follows.

Romans 8 (KJV)

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
